Giant Dirt-E+2 Pro E-Bike
Wow, what a bike!
Where do I start! Everyone who has tried this bike has come back with a huge smile on their face. Most make comment like “this is soo much fun!”
The power is far beyond what I was expecting. The Yamaha SyncDrive motor is incredible. The power delivery is smooth and very controllable. 80Nm of torque doesnt sound much until you take it out and tackle some inclines, then you will start looking for hills. It is a problem trying to wipe the smile off your face, but oh well....Combined with the 500watt hour battery it will run for hours. So to take it out for the day, climb some mountains and descend again, is all quite within your capabilities.
Imagine the fun you can have exploring off-road tracks, it really does have a range of a hundred plus kilometres, so you can do a hundred kms and still have a battery reserve. If you were in any doubt you can take the charger in your backpack, and prevail upon a friendly person to let it charge for an hour, but if you are only out for the day that is unlikely. The ability to ride new and exciting tracks becomes real. Imagine, you could take it to Alice Springs and really go exploring…….maybe the Brisbane Ranges…… The options seem unlimited.
If your time doesn’t stretch to that, maybe just ride the local single tracks, or head up to Lysterfield. The options are really only limited by your imagination. Time might have to be adjusted to fit it all in.
I have tried one for the daily commute. The thing that surprised me was how well it performed. In traffic, the handlebar 660mm width is a definite advantage, as you are able to skip up to the front at traffic lights, whereas 700 or 720mm would make it trickier. If using it to commute, a tyre change may be advisable, as the Maxxis Forekaster tyres give a pretty rough ride. But they certainly grip well off-road. I found that it was often well above the 25kph limit, and it rode well, even though it was unassisted at that speed.
If you are interested, but uncertain whether it is for you, why not try one of our test bikes. If you go to the Hallam store, it is only a few kms to Lysterfield, and then you can really have fun. You would need to ring to arrange it first.
