Fastroad E+2 is a brilliant road bike. The non-assisted version has been an extremely popular bike. An ideal bike for commuting or exploring local bike paths. It is suitable for virtually any suburban or city use. There are many riders who prefer flat handlebars, but like to ride a fast road bike. Flat bars offer better control, especially when commuting or on unpaved bike tracks.

GIANT FASTROAD E+ 2 (2019)

Fastroad E+2 is a brilliant road bike. The non-assisted version has been an extremely popular bike. An ideal bike for commuting or exploring local bike paths. It is suitable for virtually any suburban or city use. There are many riders who prefer flat handlebars, but like to ride a fast road bike. Add the assistance that the E-Bike version offers and you have a bike that is a pleasure to ride. The handlebars are a little narrower than a mountain bike, which is better suited to bike paths running alongside busy roads. The smooth running, tyres glide along offering minimal rolling resistance together with the confidence of great puncture resistance.

There are a couple of ways of looking at the range of this bike. If you wish to keep up a reasonable level of fitness, it will do around 100-120 km per battery charge, riding on the suburban bike paths and roads. That would be using one of the Eco settings.

Let’s say you wish to arrive at the office fresh and dry, you wish to cruise along with very little effort, then you may set it on one of the Sport settings. This will enable you to cruise along effortlessly, in which case the range will be closer to 50-60 km. That is still more than the average day's commute.

As most commuters do not travel more than 15 km each way, it is quite likely that you would only recharge the battery every 3rd or 4th day. The battery is rated at 500-1000 recharges, which would give an estimated 45-90,000 km life. That makes it extremely economical (especially compared to public transport.)

Some people have the idea that you will lose fitness. There is limited research on this, but the research that has been done indicates that you do not lose any fitness. In all likelihood, you will still apply as much effort as you previously did. You may simply use the bike more. It will certainly open up new avenues of fun and fitness for you.

The Yamaha Sport motor is very lively, if you were to use it in the normal mode (middle) it accelerates quickly and takes any hill in its stride. In this setting, you can expect a range of around 80km, if used in hilly terrain, more if it is relatively flat. Of course, it is proportional to the effort you apply, so that is taking into account you pedalling at a comfortable level.
