Haro Shift I/O 5 Off-road E-Bike 2018

Equipped with the Shimano Steps E8000 motor, this bike is ideal for tackling Lysterfield or some of the You Yang tracks. The Shimano E8000 motor produces 70Nm of torque which is more than sufficient to tackle long, steep inclines, and the 500 watt-hour battery will manage a couple of hours of climbing. Don't forget that's climbing, power is virtually unused the rest of the time, so you can expect around 5 hours riding in the hilliest terrain.

We have also sold these bikes to commuters. Someone simply desiring a fast, comfortable commuter. With a change of gear ratio, and a smoother, faster tyre, these bikes can be used for the everyday commute. It is unlikely that you will require any more power than the low setting, and that will take you approximately 100 kms. So for many commuters that means recharging after 3 days. As the battery is rated at 500-1,000 recharges, you should get a minimum of 40,000kms from the battery. Even if you replaced the bike at that stage, it would only have cost about 10cents per km.

The bike is designed to handle well, even with the additional weight of the motor and battery (it adds around 6+kg) and the Deore 1x10 provides good reliable gear changes. The rear cassette is 11-42t which, with the assistance from the motor, gives a wide enough range to tackle the steepest of hills

The suspension has been upgraded to the Suntour Aion Air suspension with 35mm stanchions, a thru axle and hydraulic lockout. 140mm travel is a great improvement over the earlier 120mm travel bike. The extra travel should prevent bottoming out with the extra weight of the bike.

Overall this is a great bike and heaps of fun. If you have never ridden an E-Bike you are in for a real treat.
