Hybrid bikes are pretty much always built for comfort and stability, but until recently it was assumed they weren’t really for people who like to ride. The 20% of mountain bike DNA in this hybrid gives it flat handlebars and the kind of stability and balance designed for navigating on gravel or dirt tracks if need be. Powerful v-brakes, invented for heavier mountain bikes, safely stop the Tachyon 3.0 even with extra weight loaded on a rack.
The Tachyon has a light frame, tyres that roll well, and a comfortable riding position. The gears are only recreational level, but change well, with a smooth light action. The brakes stop very effectively, every time.
