TORPADO SPORTIVO (21 SPEED)
You’ve probably landed on this page because you’re after a budget (and reliable) commuter or general fitness bike. If that’s the case, before you hit the Back button and browse the range of Giant Cross City models (which are a far more popular and also a tad more expensive), you should spend 5 minutes reading about the Sportivo 21.
Yes, I know you’ve heard the term lightweight aluminium a thousand times, but it’s true in this case. No, it’s not the fanciest aluminium frame money can buy but it’s reliable and will outlast you. Torpado has also nailed the riding position. It’s not a race bike with an aerodynamic setup. The Sportivo is designed to deliver an upright, relaxed riding position. Perfect for commuting in traffic and bike paths. It’s also a perfect position for riders who are not cyclists and want a comfortable riding position.
The Sportivo 21 is equipped with quality entry-level Shimano gearing parts. It’s not the top of the range or even the middle of the range, but gear shifts will be reliable and, if or when parts need to replace, they’ll be very inexpensive and easy to source. The Shimano drivetrain delivers a total of 21 gears. Enough for riding flat, undulating and semi-hilly terrain.
Tyre choice is important here. Most flat bar road bikes (such as the Giant Cross City) use 32mm wide tyres. In this case, the Sportivo comes equipped with 38mm wide rubber. This is the perfect width if you’re riding on bike paths, trails where it can be unsealed surfaces, and generally rougher surfaces. It makes a big difference to the overall smoothness without adding heavy suspension.
So Torpado Sportivo will be the perfect bike whether you intend to use it as a general fitness bike, a commuter or just to ride with the kids. Come and test ride it for yourself!
