Cannondale Quick 7 - 2018

The Quick 7 is a prime example of the economical commuter bike. With an aluminium frame and alloy components, it is reasonably lightweight, and with 24 easy to use gears. Even those getting back into cycling after years of alternative travel will be able to get around with ease.

There are few bikes that will even come close to the weight of the Quick 7 at this price. While weight is not everything, it is certainly a pleasant surprise after riding a heavy, slow bike such as a $500 mountain bike.

While the gear system is nothing exceptional, it has an Acera 24 speed gear system, which changes well, it is smooth and reliable. It will last the average recreational rider many years relatively trouble free riding, usually only requiring the occasional adjustment.

The riding position is quite sporty. It is certainly not an upright position, but for those of us without back or neck problems, it will be comfortable to ride. Climbing hills will be considerably easier than expected, with the lightweight, efficient riding position and easy rolling tyres.

The brakes have a light action and will stop effectively using only one or two fingers on the brake levers.

The appearance is fine, it has a bright yellow baked enamel finish, which has a high gloss, and will be resistant to deterioration even after several years. The black trims finish it off well, and the bike attracts quite a bit of attention.

This is an exceptional bike for $500, and it comes built with a free service thrown in. Come and try one, so that you can see for yourself.
