As has become expected from Giant, the quality and value of the Roam 1 far exceeds the price point.
Beginning with the extraordinary ALLUX frame, which achieves the trifecta of holy grails, being lightweight, strong and reasonably priced, the Roam 1 is assembled from a host of quality components.
The 63 mm travel Suntour NCX-D LO air front suspension forks with an easily operated manual lockout take all the bumps from the front end, keeping you comfortably in touch with the Giant Contact Comfort saddle and ergonomic hand grips.
Of course, hydraulic disc brakes are also part of the package, providing exceptional braking in all weather conditions, unlike rim brakes that deteriorate when wet. Another side benefit is the extremely low lever pressure required to activate them.
The latest gearing is also a feature of this latest model Roam.
Just 2 chainrings at the front with 32 and 44 teeth, coupled to an 11 to 34 10 speed cassette at the rear, is a simpler set up than the traditional 3 chainrings. With the cleverly chosen cog sizes there is no down side, only the positives of reduced wear, lighter weight and a simpler gear change.
An ideal commuting bike or general use bike, the Roam 1 is at home on a gravel road or bike path as it is on a sealed bitumen road. So, drop in and check one out. You won't be disappointed.
