Giant Toughroad SLR GX 0 2018

Adventuring is what riding is about. And although any bike can do that, not all bikes can do it as comfortably or as efficiently as the Giant Toughroad SLR GX 0.

The bike is perfectly suited to a wide array of riders; perhaps you’re the guy who rides to work, or the fitness rider whose roads are less than perfect or even if you’re touring some backcountry place in the middle of nowhere. The Toughroad SLR GX is also great for a variety of road conditions; concrete bike paths, hardpack gravel and dirt, and loose surfaces such as fire roads.

At its heart is the ALUXX SLR frameset. This superbly crafted aluminium frame is manufactured from a triple-butted manufacturing process. This means the Toughroad frame has 3 different wall tube thicknesses. Giant engineers focus on the critical loading areas; maximising material in these areas, and thinning material out where it’s not required. This delivers a better strength to weight ratio; the bike climbs like a goat and propels you forward with each pedal stroke.

Lightweight and tech is all good, but what about comfort? After all it’s a long distance bike.

Comfort is delivered through 3 key areas; the new D-Fuse Seatpost, carbon fork and tubeless tyres.

D-Fuse is a seatpost design that Giant uses on their premium bikes for many years. The visibly flat rear section flexes - a lot - and absorbs both high-frequency vibrations and small impacts. The post is produced from carbon fibre which further helps the post flex and delivers more rider comfort.
