Xds Ultimo 2.0

Xds have got it right again. The Ultimo is ideal as an Urban bike. It is pefect when you need a bike that can be used for riding in a variety of conditions or surfaces. An all purpose bike may lead you to think 'unexciting' but the Ultimo is anything but boring, to me an apt description would be fun. If you have a variety of bikes some of the bikes may be in danger of being left abandoned in the garage, as you find yourself taking out the Ultimo whenever you can. 

Imagine a bike that really is fun to ride anywhere. If you tackle rough tracks or neglected bike paths with the odd broken glass, the puncture resistant tyres will prevent those enforced rest breaks, while you repair a flat tyre, yet roll so easily that the bike seems to just glide along effortlessly (well almost). When you go on longer rides the low rolling resistance and great frame make riding so much more pleasurable. The bike seems to just glide along, with the minimum of effort. The frame design, combined with the comfortable saddle and grips allows a very relaxed riding position, yet the bike climbs really well, when you encounter the inevitable hill. Because the bars are relatively high, compared to most flat bar style bikes, your back and neck are in a relaxed position, so you can ride long distances if you desire and stay relaxed and feeling great.

Apart from the great frame and wheels, this bike is fitted with a SRAM 20 speed gear system, combined with Shimano hydraulic disc brakes. This equipment works so well. The gear changes are smooth and precise, an absolute pleasure to change, remember those times with cheaper gear systems that clunk and grind rather than changing, or worse, slip after you thought all was well. Hydraulic disc brakes may seem an overkill for a city bike, but when negotiating traffic and steep inclines it is always a pleasure to have total confidence in your braking system.
