ORBEA OCCAM M30 LT (2022) - ICE GREEN/JADE GREEN CARBON

Orbea’s latest Occam comes in 2 variants. The LT is the Long Travel version.

The difference?

The LT has 150mm of rear wheel travel paired to a 150mm travel fork. A 10mm increase at both ends compared to the standard Occam.

The Orbea Occam M30 LT build comes with the following key characteristics:

FOX SUSPENSION

The M30 LT is designed for aggressive riders. And raw, technical single track.

Thus, the suspension package is designed to suit this intent.

A Fox 36 Performance fork delivers 150mm travel and has 3 different compression settings - soft, medium and firm. It also has rebound and air pressure adjustment. Everything you need to tune the fork to most trail conditions.

The 36 is paired to its equivalent rear shock - the latest Fox Float X. Which also delivers 150mm of rear wheel travel.

But:

This one’s Factory level.

So you get the gold Kashima which is actually lubricating molybdenum-disulfide (MoS2). Think of it as a slippery but incredibly wear-resistant coating.

The Float X Factory has the standard air pressure and rebound adjustments, plus riders can adjust the shocks’ Low-Speed Compression (LSC) too.

LSC controls how firm or soft you prefer the rear of the Occam M30 LT to feel at low-shaft speeds (not necessarily low moving speed).

M30 LT COMPONENTS

The spec includes components from Shimano, Race Face and Orbea’s own branded parts.

Scattered throughout are Shimano’s latest 12-speed components, consisting of XT and SLX.

Crankset and rims are Race Face. The new AR30 offset rim delivers strength and durability. The offset design ensures even spoke tension between drive and non-drive side spokes.

4-piston Shimano hydraulic disc brakes deliver superb stopping power.

THE OMR CARBON FRAME

OMR (Orbea Monocoque Race) carbon frames are all hand painted in Spain.

Simply put, they make some of the best carbon frames in the business. No wrinkles. No excessive resin to hide flaws. No voids and bubbles (these reduce the overall durability and strength of the frame).

This is done via bladder moulding and EPS forms.

Meaning:

Just the right amount of carbon and resin is required. Improving stiffness-weight ratios and keeping the layup schedule clean.

Occam’s frame is designed to deliver exceptional mid travel support and be progressive. As such it will work with either an air or coil shock.

ASYMMETRY IS KEY

The frame also benefits from an asymmetric design.

The rear shock is offset to the left of the Occam’s frame.

Why?

This allows the right support to become more central to the frame. And it allows Orbea to tune frame stiffness without adding unneeded weight to the frame.

And:

It also has other benefits; more room for a water bottle, the ability to use longer dropper seat posts and access to shock controls.

LINKAGE AND MULTI-TOOL

A new 2-piece linkage is used to hold the front and rear frame triangles together.

Less parts equals less maintenance and significantly more frame rigidity.

Within the main link, there’s room for Orbea’s magnetic multi-tool that has all the most-used tools to make trail-side adjustments.
