XDS RISE 4.0 - DEEP PURPLE
XDS’ Rise 4.0 is a mid-range recreational women’s hybrid bike. It’s comfortable, stable and versatile. It’s designed for family bike rides, general fitness and cruising suburbia.
In this preview, we’ll cover all the important points of the Rise 4.0 and why it should be on your short list of bikes.
Readers, it’s also worth noting that for stricly limited time we’re offering Free Freight to all metropolitan areas.
Assembly will be required at your end.
In the interest of personal safety, we strongly recommend that you use a bike store or mobile bike mechanic to assemble the Rise 4.0.
WHO IS THE RISE FOR?
The Rise 4.0 is designed for riders who are searching for a bike that can be used for family bike rides, commuting to/from work or school or just general fitness.
It’s got a relaxed riding position that will suit riders who prefer comfort over a sporty and aggressive riding position.
So, no, you don’t need to be a pro to ride it and feel comfortable.
The Rise 4.0 is designed for bike paths and rail trails. Light dirt, gravel and asphalt poses no issues.
Lastly, the Rise is a stable bike.
For those who haven’t ridden in a while or you’re a little ‘wonky’ on a bike, then don’t sweat. The Rise is so stable and easy to ride, it will make you feel confident in no time.
THE FRAME
XDS are masters of producing superb aluminium frames. In fact, they are also the engineers that manufacture frames for lots of well-known brands in the industry.
We stock XDS because of their build quality and workhorse-like dependability.
With all that in mind, the Rise 4.0’s frame is definitely better than industry average. It uses a better quality aluminium alloy and advanced production methods to keep the weight down and strength up.
Cables run inside the frame for a cleaner overall look.
Lastly, the Rise’s frame can carry a child or groceries too. There are holes
HYDRAULIC BRAKES
The Rise 4.0 comes built with hydraulic (or hydro) disc brakes.
Not only do they work better than mechanical brakes, hydro disc brakes don’t need as much maintenance which makes them more robust.
That’s because:
There are no brake cables to replace once they wear out from grit or rust.
No tensioning brake cables or adjusting brake pads required either. This makes the Rise 4.0’s hydraulic brakes so much simpler to maintain.
Another important point:
The brake lever on the Rise 4.0 can be adjusted to suit smaller hands - without affecting the braking performance and losing power. Something that mechanical brakes suffer from.
24 GEARS
Next, we’ll cover the gears:
There are 24 of them; 3 on the front and 8 on the back. We call this an 8 speed setup and it’s designed for recreational riders. It’s super durable, robust and reliable.
Think of the 3 front gears as a major adjustment to terrain (see below). These 3 gears are adjusted using your left hand shifter.
Gear 1 (smallest) is used for extended or very steep climbs. Gear 2 (middle chainring) is used for moderate climbs/descents and flatter terrain. Gear 3 (the largest chainring) is used for increasing your speed descending.
For most riders, gear 2 makes sense. It’s used for most types of terrain and applies to all rider fitness levels too.
These three front gears are paired to 8 gears on the back. It’s these gears that you’ll use more often than the front ones.
On your right hand shifter, 1 is your easiest gear and 8 is the hardest.
There are 2 paddles that either change into a harder gear or easier (see below).
The broad range of back gears deliver an easy gear for zipping up climbs (OK, OK, it’ll make climbs less of a sufferfest) and there’s a fast gear for carrying speed on descents.
SMOOTH SUSPENSION
The Rise 4.0’s suspension helps absorb impacts and smooths out the trails.
But it also has another benefit:
It lifts the front of the bike up and delivers a relaxed riding position.
Plus it makes the handling a little more stable (think, less twitchy) which makes it perfect for new and recreational riders.
A blue lever on the right hand side gives riders 2 modes; plush (open) or firm (lock).
Keep it in plush if your trails are bumpy and you need suspension. And if you’re riding on smooth paths, keep the suspension firm (locked position) to make the Rise 4.0 respond faster and more efficiently to each pedal stroke.
SHIPPING AND ASSEMBLY
For a limited time, we’re offering free shipping to metropolitan areas across Australia.
This means that regardless of your location within these designated metro zones, your bike will be delivered to your doorstep at no additional cost.
Some assembly will be required. Assembling the XDS Rise is a crucial step in ensuring it performs as intended and your safety.
If you’re unsure about the assembly process or lack confidence in your mechanical skills, we highly recommend seeking assistance from a qualified mobile bike mechanic or bike store. Their expertise guarantees that your bike is assembled correctly, minimizing the risk of any potential issues and ensuring a safe riding experience.
