HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT PAIR OF WINTER GLOVES

The great thing about winter in Victoria is it rarely reaches zero or below zero degrees in temperature. However, some mornings can feel cold and you wish you had a thicker, warmer and more insulated pair of gloves.

This is the stuff you need to look out for when you’re buying bike gloves for winter.

THE THICKNESS

How thick should your winter bike gloves be?

It depends on what temperatures you’re comfortable riding in and your tolerance to the cold.

If you suffer from cold-hands or regularly ride in temperatures below 7°C, then thick gloves like the Castelli Estremo are the best.

These types of winter gloves are designed for cold and wet rides.

But if you want something a little slimmer for better handlebar, shifter and brake lever feel then consider these:

These are called mid-weight winter bike gloves.

Note that most of these winter bike gloves have a longer wrist cuff so that your long-sleeve top can tuck into them for extra protection.

And lastly, we have a lightweight thermal glove such as the: * Pearl Izumi Thermal Lite * BBB RaceShield

Both are perfect for taking the chill off early morning rides. If your hands start cold but soon warm up, these could be a great option.
