Haro Mountain Bikes

Founded by Bob Haro in 1978, their grassroots has always been in BMX and Mountain (MTB). History aside though, Haro’s latest range of DoublePeak mountain bikes are properly good. They’re a mid-range recreational mountain bike, like the Giant Talon and GT Aggressor.

So for general fitness bike rides, short commutes, family rides and some entry-level mountain biking, the DoublePeaks will be perfect. And there are 2 models to choose (keep scrolling for more information):

The DoublePeak Sport is the less expensive of the two. It uses a mid-range 8 speed Shimano gear system. There are 2 front gears and 8 rear gears on this Sport version. It also uses Radius hydraulic disc brakes. A must have on any new mountain bike.

And the DoublePeak Trail uses exactly the same frame as the Sport but has a couple of upgrades. The first is the Shimano 9 speed gear system. There are 2 front gears and 9 rear gears, delivering a total of 18 gears.

What’s the big deal?

Well, that extra gear does deliver smoother gear changes, especially under load. It’s also the quality of each component becomes better; longer lasting and better made.

The Trail also gets better suspension than the Sport. But really only necessary if you’ll be doing more gravel and dirt than bike paths.
