How can you carry items on your bike, easily and with minimal fuss?

Of course you can lug things on your back, but there is a clever solution that may surprise you: A Bike Basket.

Bicycle baskets can be fitted to the front or rear of your bike. If, like many of us, you have a special pet that would love to join you for a ride, there’s even purpose-built pet baskets.

Let’s have a look at some options available at Ivanhoe Cycles and as always, you can ask for more help online, email, telephone or in-store.

KIDS FRONT BASKETS

Always massively popular, there are many colourful options that you can see here.

We’ve got a massive range; some feature flowers and others come in a multitude of colours.

FRONT BASKETS

Are designed to be fixed to the front of your handlebars and not removable quickly. Even though you lose the quick-release functionality, these front baskets do tend to be more stable and robust. For example, this wire mesh basket here.

However, a popular choice tends to be the Quick Release (or QR) front baskets. That’s because these are super handy for shopping or carrying laptops, lunches etc.

There are several types available, such as:

Just a quick note:

While the front bike basket, when full, does slightly affect the steering, it only takes a minute or two to get used to it. Maybe try at home first, before venturing out to the shops.

REAR BASKETS

Rear bicycle baskets tend to be higher capacity than the front versions. They require a rear bicycle rack as well, with brands like Topeak working best when matched together.

That’s because Topeak has designed a robust track-system that allows riders to simply slide the bag or basket into the rack and lock it in place.

For instance: Topeak’s MTX Quicktrack rear basket

Goes well with: The Topeak rack here.

There are many money-saving choices available, that are reliable and proven such as the Azur QR rear basket.

The above model will fit most rear bike racks, like this Azur rear rack and can be used for shopping, as it is a quick release style. Very handy.

For those with an e-bike with a battery mounted on the rack, have a look at the robust and easy to mount Basil Cento WSL.

PET BASKETS

Here are some best-selling bike baskets for our beloved pets.

There are front options like this one. (Please be aware, these are hard to get, so if we are out of stock, please ask, we will be trying to get some.)

Rear baskets such as the https://ivanhoecycles.com.au/products/large-pet-carrier-quick-release-rear-basket

This basket is perfect for pets happy to sit behind the rider, it’s padded and makes them feel a bit special. So with all that being said, hopefully that’s helped you with some on-bike storage solutions. Please ask if you need more assistance online, in-store, by email or telephone.
