Why a Bike Drink Bottle Holder Is Important
Like any physical activity, cycling requires hydration. Especially if you’re riding at intensity, commuting or riding long distances.
A well-designed bike water bottle holder helps keep your drink (safely) accessible while you're riding.
- Consistent Hydration. Having water within reach makes it easier to maintain proper hydration during bike rides.
- Improved Safety. A secure bottle holder minimises the need to stop and search for water, reducing distractions.
- Convenience. A designated spot for your drink ensures that your hydration system is always ready for use.
Below we have various options available and offer advice on selecting the right drink bottle holder for your bike.

Types of Bike Drink Bottle Holders
Bike water bottle holders are also known as "bottle cages".
Broadly, these are the different types:
- Frame mount. These bolt to the down-tube and/or seat-tube of your bike's frame.
- Handlebar mount. Kids bikes and some adult bikes (especially in S and XS frame sizes) do not have frame attachments. These drink bottle holders have a clamp that bolt on the handlebar.

Choosing the Right Bike Drink Bottle Holder
When selecting a bike drink bottle holder, consider these key factors:
- Material and Durability. Look for holders made from high-quality, weather-resistant materials that can withstand regular use.
- Ease of Installation. A good holder should be easy to install and remove, fitting securely with your bike frame.
- Secure Fit. Ensure that the holder keeps your bottle or pack stable during bumpy or rough rides.
- Design and Compatibility. Choose a holder that aligns with your bike’s design and meets your specific performance needs.

Frame Mount Bike Water Bottle Holder
Most adult size bikes will have at least 1 place on the frame to attach a drink bottle holder.
These are the 2 frame mount types:
- Standard pull
- Side pull
Both types can be made from a plastic composite, alloy, steel, titanium or carbon-fibre.
Standard pull bottle holders allow the bottle to be inserted and pulled from the top.
Side pull bottle holders release the bottle from the side of the frame.
So, if you've got a XS or S frame size or kids bike (that still has bolts on the frame) then you must go side pull.
Some adult e-bikes require this (due to the battery placement) such as the Giant Roam E+, Liv Rove E+, Giant Talon E+ and Liv Tempt E+.
And we'd recommend this for adult dual-suspension mountain bikes too.

And for small kids bikes that have frame mount, the easiest is the Giant ARX sidecage.
