What is a race bike?
Race bikes are also known as interchangeably as road bikes.
Even though these bikes feel at home in a high-pressure race environment, the majority of our customers do not use these bikes for racing competitively.
It's more the feel of the bike that they're after.
But we need to be more precise:
Out of the 3 different types of road bikes, the race bike is:
The lightest.
It has slimmer tube sections to cut down on frame weight.
The lower weight and increased response, makes race bikes the perfect climbing bike too.
The most agile.
Race bikes have a shorter rear length.
Every pedal stroke makes the race bike respond actively. There's no delay in forward motion.
Experienced riders will love this instant feedback.
It's also agile from a front-end handling perspective.
The angles are sharper and steeper.
What this means is any direction changes you make are fast. It can also corner tighter as well.
For riders who like to attack, this handling character of race bikes will appeal.
Aggressive.
Now we're talking about how you're positioned on the race bike.
The front end of a race bike is lower. And the top-tube length (or reach to the handlebars) is longer.
This race position is going to be ergonomic for cyclists who are flexible, conditioned to riding road bikes or have a strong base fitness outside of cycling.
The Options.
For women, the brand Liv makes the Langma.
For the guys, it's Giant's TCR.
Both these race bikes are available in carbon only.
