Giant bikes in Melbourne

Giant was founded in Taiwan in 1972 and builds bikes for almost every kind of riding: road racing, endurance road, gravel, cross-country and trail mountain biking, downhill, fitness and commuting, electric and kids.

Ivanhoe Cycles has been an authorised Giant dealer for decades, and we carry the Giant range at all three of our Melbourne stores: Heidelberg Heights in the north-east, Hallam in the south-east and Hoppers Crossing in the west.

Giant complete bikes are sold in store or through Click & Collect only.

Giant doesn't allow its bikes to be shipped, so every Giant on this page is picked up from one of our stores.

Click & Collect is free, and your bike is built and checked by our workshop before you collect it.

Use the Stock Location filter above to see which store has your size.

Giant Bikes Giant Reign

Giant mountain bikes

The  Giant's mountain bike range runs from recreational hardtails to downhill race bikes.

For your first proper mountain bike, the Giant Talon is a front-suspension hardtail that handles bike paths, rail trails and beginner singletrack.

The Giant Stance is the step up into dual suspension, with rear suspension for more comfort and grip on rougher trails.

The Giant Trance is Giant's all-round trail bike. For 2027 the Trance family is led by the carbon Trance Advanced E+ electric trail bikes.

The Anthem is Giant's carbon cross-country race bike, which you'll find with the rest of our XC mountain bikes.

The Giant Reign is built for enduro riding on steep, technical trails, and the Giant Glory is Giant's downhill bike for bike parks and racing.

See every Giant mountain bike together on our Giant mountain bikes page, or compare them against other brands on our hardtail and dual-suspension mountain bike pages.

Giant road bikes

Giant makes five road bike families, and the right one depends on how you ride.

The Giant Contend is the place to start for a first road bike, with an alloy frame, stable handling and a comfortable riding position.

The Giant Defy is Giant's carbon endurance bike, designed for comfort over long distances without giving up performance.

The Giant TCR is the race all-rounder: lighter and sharper than the Defy, with a lower, more aggressive position for riders with some road experience.

The Giant Propel is Giant's aero road bike, built to save energy at higher speeds.

The Trinity is Giant's time trial and triathlon bike, available to order as complete bikes and framesets.

Giant Revolt Advanced being ridden in the backroads of Tasmania

Giant gravel bikes

The Giant Revolt is designed for cyclists who want the freedom to explore gravel roads, dirt paths and long-distance routes with confidence.

Giant has tuned the handling of the Revolt to offer exceptional stability on unstable surfaces. The steering is calm and predictable too, not nervous.

A slight variation of the Giant Revolt is the Revolt X Advanced

Anytime you see the 'X' means it's got front suspension. Designed for riders who are spending time on raw, exposed trails where front suspension is important for control.

Giant electric bikes

Giant e-bikes carry an E+ in the model name.

For commuting, errands and recreational riding, the range includes the Explore E+, Anytour X E+, NewTour E+, Expression E+ and Roam E+.

On the road, the Defy Advanced E+ adds a light rear hub motor to Giant's carbon endurance bike, so it looks and rides much like a regular road bike.

Giant's electric mountain bikes cover every type of trail: the Talon E+ hardtail, the Stance E+, the carbon Trance Advanced E+ trail bikes and the Reign Advanced E+ for enduro riding.

Giant's SyncDrive mid-drive motors are co-developed with Yamaha, and our workshops at all three stores service them.

See the full range on our Giant e-bikes and Giant electric mountain bikes pages.

Giant hybrid and city bikes

For fitness riding and commuting, Giant has three flat bar families.

The Giant FastRoad is the fastest of them: road bike efficiency with flat bar control, in alloy (FastRoad AR) and carbon (FastRoad AR Advanced).

The Giant Roam is a versatile recreational hybrid for general fitness, relaxed commuting and light touring on sealed roads and bike paths.

The Giant Cross City is a light, responsive city bike built for urban commuting.

Compare them with other brands on our hybrid bikes and flat bar road bikes pages.

Giant kids bikes

Giant's kids range starts with the Pre balance bike and the 12-inch Animator, then moves through the 16-inch Animator and the 20-inch STP to 24-inch bikes including the Talon 24 and XTC JR.

For other brands and help choosing the right wheel size for your child's age and height, see our kids bikes page.

Choosing your Giant size

Giant road bikes come in sizes from XS to XL, including an ML size between medium and large, so most riders can find a close fit.

Giant mountain bikes run from XS or S to XL depending on the model, and kids bikes are sized by wheel diameter rather than frame size.

For the Talon, our Giant Talon size chart matches frame sizes to rider height.

For everything else, come into any of our stores: we'll help you choose the right size, and you can test ride it in the car park before you buy.

Liv: Giant's women's bike brand

Liv is the women's bike brand from the Giant group, with its own road, gravel, mountain and kids ranges designed for women.

You'll find the full range on our Liv bikes page.

Giant Bikes FAQs

Are you an authorised Giant dealer?

Yes. Ivanhoe Cycles has been an authorised Giant dealer for decades, at all three of our Melbourne stores.

Buying from an authorised dealer means your bike is covered by Giant's warranty, and we handle warranty claims in store.

Can I get a Giant bike delivered?

No. Giant doesn't allow its complete bikes to be shipped, so they're sold in store or through Click & Collect.

Click & Collect is free, and our workshop builds and checks your bike before you pick it up from Heidelberg Heights, Hallam or Hoppers Crossing.

Which Giant bike is best for a beginner?

It depends on where you'll ride.

For a first road bike, the Giant Contend. For a first mountain bike, the Giant Talon hardtail, or the Giant Stance if you want rear suspension.

For fitness riding and commuting, the Giant FastRoad, Roam or Cross City.

What does "Advanced" mean in a Giant model name?

It means the frame is carbon.

Giant uses Advanced, Advanced Pro and Advanced SL for its carbon frame grades, with Advanced SL the lightest.

Models without "Advanced" use Giant's aluminium frames.

What's the difference between the Giant Defy and the TCR?

Both are carbon road bikes.

The Defy is Giant's endurance bike, with a more upright position and extra compliance for comfort on long rides.

The TCR is the race bike: lighter, stiffer and lower at the front, suited to riders with some road experience.

What does E+ mean on a Giant bike?

E+ marks a Giant e-bike.

All Giant e-bikes are pedal-assist, with motor support limited to 25 km/h in line with Australian regulations.

Do you service Giant e-bikes?

Yes. Our workshops at all three stores service Giant e-bikes, including Giant's SyncDrive motor systems co-developed with Yamaha.

We also service bikes bought elsewhere.

Is Giant a good bike brand?

Giant has been building bikes since 1972 and designs and manufactures its own frames in aluminium and carbon.

Its range runs from balance bikes and hybrids to road bikes raced at WorldTour level.

We stock Giant across road, mountain, gravel, hybrid, electric and kids bikes at all three of our stores, and our workshops service them.

Is Giant a Chinese company?

No. Giant is a Taiwanese company, founded in 1972 and headquartered in Taichung, Taiwan.

Can I test ride a Giant before I buy?

Yes. Test rides are available at all three stores, in the store car park.

Stock varies by store, so use the Stock Location filter on this page or call ahead to check your size is in.
