Giant Roam

What is the Giant Roam?

Giant designed the Roam to be a super versatile hybrid bike (a cross-between a road and mountain bike).

It's perfect for suburban bike paths right through to country rail trails.

The Roam rolls faster and more efficiently than a mountain bike on pavement while still being at home on smoother dirt and gravel surfaces.

The Roam's versatility is what makes it open to whatever use you want to put it to.

So, if you don't want to be limited to where to ride, the Roam is a very safe investment.

Within the Giant Roam family, there are various models.

Who should buy the Giant Roam?

You should consider buying the Roam if:

  • You are a recreational rider looking for an all-round fitness bike.
  • Your old recreational mountain bike looks (and feels) tired, and you want something lighter and easier to ride.
  • You're riding with the family on local bike paths.
  • You want a robust commuter bike that can handle pannier racks and extra luggage.

Giant Roam 4.

The Roam 4 is a great option for riders who are fair-weather riders.

You like to ride but it's not your main thing. It's an added activity in addition to other stuff you do.

With all that said, you still want a hybrid bike that's robust.

The Roam 4 has:

  • 21-speed gears.
  • Hydraulic disc brakes.
  • Front suspension with no lockout.

Giant Roam 3.

The Giant Roam 3 is an excellent mid-range build.

Like the Roam 4, it's designed for recreational riders. But riders that want slightly better components. The Roam 3 has the following upgrades:

  • 24-speed gears.
  • Front suspension with lockout.

More gears equals smoother gear shifts and better components (derailleurs, gear shifters, chain and cassette).

Lockout simply allows riders to turn the suspension ON or OFF.

If you're riding on smooth surfaces, locking the suspension stops it from bouncing. This means more of your effort goes into moving the Roam forward.

Giant Roam 2.

The Roam 2 gets affordable-premium gear components.

What we mean by this is it's similar tech to what Shimano use in their high-end hardware but at a fraction of the replacement cost.

At the heart of the Roam 2 is Shimano's latest CUES U6000 10-speed gears.

It's designed for active daily use and uses tech from LinkGlide. Shimano designed LinkGlide components for e-bikes; so we know CUES is going to be super robust.

Giant Roam 1.

For 2025, Giant has made the best Roam 1 we've ever seen.

You should consider the Roam 1 if you intend to use your bike frequently and on unsealed surfaces. That is, you want a hybrid bike that will work flawlessly in rough conditions.

The Roam 1 gets premium components in the following key areas:

  • Suspension. RockShox is one the best suspension brands in the world. Riders get premium air suspension that's super plush over rough surfaces.
  • It's the only Roam to get a carbon composite seat post. Unlike the alloy seatposts, this one has more flex; absorbing more vibrations and enhancing comfort.
  • Shimano hydraulic disc brakes deliver more stopping power and better control.
  • Shimano CUES U6020 11-speed gears with a broader gear range and better cranks.
