Rim Brake Pads

Rim brake pads have different profiles.

There are V-brake pads which are the longest and often have conical washers to adjust the angle of the brake pads against the rim.

BMX brake pads are stubby and broad to suit smaller rims.

Road brake pads are available to suit carbon rims or aluminium alloy rims. Most of these have brake pad inserts. So when the brake pads wear down, the pad insert slides out and slide the new one in.

Cantilever brake pads have their own unique profile to suit cantilever brakes.

Lastly, there's the block-style rim brake pad that is seen on kids bikes and older road bikes.
