MTB pants offer protection

MTB pants are designed to protect your legs from abrasions, cuts, and impacts that can occur while riding. They often have reinforced panels in key areas such as the seat and knees, which can provide additional protection.

MTB pants are usually made of rip-stop nylon, polyester or spandex blends for flexibility and resistance to tears.

MTB pants are designed for on-bike comfort

MTB pants are designed with the needs of riders in mind.

This means they are designed for on-the-bike comfort; seated climbing, descending position and riding for hours.

MTB pants are made from lightweight, breathable materials that allow for a full range of motion, and often have features such as articulated knees and stretch panels that enhance comfort and mobility.

Weather Protection

Some MTB pants are designed with weather protection in mind, featuring materials that repel water and mud to keep you dry and comfortable while riding in wet conditions.

The Fox Defend MTB pants will have a Durable Water Repellent (DWR) coating as a minimum. However, if you need a dedicated set of winter MTB pants then these will be better pants:

Fox Ranger MTB Pants

Fox designed the Ranger MTB pants for all-day comfort, casual trail riding and overall versatility. If you're not sure which MTB pants to buy, the Ranger pants do it all.

Compared to the Fox Defend pants (below), these are built with a high Nylon content (76% vs. 18%) so they are going to feel softer against your skin.

More elastane (11% vs. 9%) also means the Ranger MTB pants have a little more stretch.

Fox Defend MTB Pants

Fox's Defend MTB pants are designed for rugged trails and extended durability.

The extra polyester content (73% vs. 13%) makes it more structured, quick drying and smoother against your skin.

And the 4-way stretch material doesn't restrict movement. Plus, Cordura® knee panels provide added durability and abrasion resistance.
