Giant Reign

What is the Giant Reign?

The new Reign is perhaps one of the most progressive and modern mountain bikes to come out of Giant’s stable.

Technically, the Giant's Reign is an Enduro bike.

It’s designed for riders who are comfortable on high-speed, steep, raw and technical trails.

But the thing is:

It's actually an Enduro race bike.

View as

Reign Man, explain it like I'm 5.

What's the difference?

It's subtle.

Race bikes are designed to go fast - up and down.

So the Reign's got a little more support built into the suspension.

This makes the Reign feel lighter and more agile.

And since here in Australia, we don't have chairlifts everywhere, we've gotta use our legs.

That's a good thing.

Because it turns the Reign into a very useable enduro bike.

So it can actually climb and get you to the top (unlike some other enduro bikes) comfortably.

And on the way down, you can tap into the Reign's natural calmness and stability.

Reign: Must know stuff

Giant has designed the new Reign with 160mm of rear wheel travel paired to a 170mm front fork.

Out of the box, the Reign comes with 29-inch wheels (you can use a 27.5 rear wheel though).

Next:

Riders get 3-positions on the new Flip-Chip:

  • Low (max high-speed stability)
  • Mid (neutral handling)
  • High (low-speed technical trails)

The chip offers BB-drop adjustments in 5mm increments (35, 30 or 25mm).

And changes the head-tube angle (63.5, 63.9 or 64.2-degrees).

Plus seat tube angle (78.3, 78.7 or 79 degrees).

PS:

If you see the word Advanced in the name, it's got a carbon frame.

Otherwise it's made from aluminium.

The Reign SX

Reign SX is for pure gravity-focused riders.

SX gets 165mm in the rear and a massive 190mm dual crown suspension fork up front.

You can adjust the frame geometry too using the Reign SX's Flip-Chip.

Head-angle is adjustable between 63.1 or 63.5-degree.

Seat-tube angle corresponds to 77.9 or 78.3-degree.

This results in a 25 or 19mm bottom bracket drop (size medium) to fine-tune handling for varying trail conditions and riding style.

Note: The Reign SX can only be used as a mullet setup.
