XDS’ new Loretta is a modern retro recreational bike that’s designed for tall pre-teens, teenagers and adults.

WHO IS THE LORETTA FOR?

The Loretta has been designed for outer suburbia and inner city bike paths. It’s happiest on smooth paths; either asphalt or smooth and hard unsealed surfaces (like granitic sand rail trails).

It’s focussed on being really lightweight too.

So, the rider that’ll love the Loretta is going to be someone who wants to ride with friends and family on easy bike paths. They want to be comfortable too. The Loretta’s is designed to position riders more upright and less aggressively.

ABOUT THE LORETTA

XDS has made the Loretta light - very light. Very few of the parts are made from steel. Most are aluminium.

The lack of weight makes it easy to ride, move around, climb hills and accelerate from a standing start.

Paired to the lightweight frame is a simple, clean and easy to use gearing system.

The Loretta has 8 gears in total; 1 front gear and 8 back gears.

The 8 back gears are perfect for riders who are going to ride up hills and need an easier gear to get to the top.

But there’s also a couple of gears for going downhill really fast too.

As a general rule:

Gears 1 and 2 are riding up hills. Gears 3, 4, 5 (and maybe 6) are great for riding along flatter bike paths. Gears 7 and 8 are good options for cruising downhill with.

1 chainring (or gear) on the front significantly simplifies the Loretta’s gears.

That’s because:

There’s no derailleur, no front shifter or gear cable required. Less moving parts = simpler = less maintenance.

Mechanical V-brakes help Loretta riders slow down. There’s no foot brakes, so riders use their hands to slow down.

The synthetic leather saddle and grips are extremely comfortable and compliment the look of the Loretta.

The Loretta also comes standard with a rear rack, full length rigid mudguards, front wicker basket and kickstand.

The rear rack is spring loaded, so it’ll clamp onto and hold down bags and jackets.

A brown wicker-style basket compliments the Loretta’s styling and it’s practical.

It’s designed to be robust with strong metal supports and it’s bolted onto the Loretta’s frame and not just clamped on, so it’s going to remain rigid.

Lastly, a sprung seat makes it so much more comfortable for those who don’t spend a lot of time riding.

You’ll receive the Loretta in a box. Where you’ll need to perform some basic assembly.

If you are not comfortable assembling the Loretta, please don’t try.

In the interest of personal safety, we strongly recommend taking it to a bike store or getting a mobile mechanic to assemble it for you.
