Bike Racks

(67 products)

Our massive bike rack collection below consists of almost all types of bike racks for cars.

You will find vertical bike racks from GripSport; Towbar bike racks from Thule, Buzzrack, EziGrip and Pacific; Hitch-style (square receiver tube) bike racks. And boot bike racks that strap on to the back of your car. Use these if you don't have a towbar fitted to your car.

If you scroll past the bike racks below, you'll find a little more information to help get you started.

Vertical bike racks

Vertical bike racks position the bike vertically, so that the tyres sit towards the back of the car.

These are perfect for families who have mountain bikes or electric mountain bikes. These types of bikes are much longer than a normal mountain bike, road bike or hybrid.

Vertical racks  are very quick to mount the bike onto. Because once you lift the bike and the front wheel settles into the wheel tray, it's just a matter of using straps to lock into position.

These are also the most robust option. The tubing size, welding, reinforced plates; everything about them is engineered for durability.

An example is the GripSport Versa 2.4 Folding.

Towball bike racks

Towball mounted bike racks are our most popular option.

And these come in 2 types.

The first type, clamps the bike around its top bar (or top tube).

And the second type, clamps the bike's front wheel, rear wheel and around the frame. Note also that the bike sits on a platform.

Platform bike racks can handle e-bikes (certain models), road, mountain, hybrid, kids = almost any style of bike.

They have a clamp that slides onto the towball and locks onto the ball itself.

Hitch-style bike racks

Hitch-style bike racks slide into the square-shaped hollow tube on the back of your car.

If you're driving for hours on highway or rough roads, hitch-style racks can be a little more secure than towbar bike racks.

However, with the latest range of towball mounted racks this is not as pronounced; the clamping mechanism is secure.

Boot mounted bike racks

These bike racks are designed to be strapped to the back of your vehicle.

And because the back of all vehicles are different, this rack is heavily dependent on the type of vehicle you have.

Boot bike racks have 2 straps that hook into the panel on the top of the roof. And 2 straps that hook on the underside.

Some will have 2 more that hook into the side of the vehicle.

Note: if your car has a plastic spoiler, chances are very low that this style of bike rack will work.

Because:

The 2 top straps are going to pull down on the spoiler and potentially break it off.

Thule has a very good bike rack compatibility menu.

Click on Select your vehicle and it will tell you what racks are compatible with yours.
