Our range of child bike seats include rear mounted, front mounted and frame mount.

Rear mounted child bike seats can handle the most load, are super comfortable and easy to attach.

Front mounted child seats usually clamp somewhere around the handlebars. They are lighter than rear mounted, so a better option for smaller riders.

Frame mounted child bike seats clamp directly on your bike's frame. Either on the top-tube (like the Kids Ride Shotgun) or on the seat-tube (like the Thule RideAlong).

Rear baby bike seats.

These child bike seats come with a rack.

The rack is bolted to the back of your bike.

Important:

Your bike must have threaded mounting points for a rack. Most (but not all) aluminium frames will have these. Most carbon frames will not - but it's worth checking.

The child seat sits on top of the rack.

And because there's extra support, these child seats can handle more weight (up to 22kg for the Topeak Babyseat II for example) than front-mount child seats.

The rack stays on the bike and it's a simple process to clip the child seat in and out.

Front baby bike seats.

Front-mount child seats clamp around the steering column and handlebar area.

As you'd expect, these sit out in front of you.

The advantages with this type of child seat are:

  • You have visibility on your child at all times.
  • It's easier to get on and off the bike.
  • Allows you to maintain slightly better balance.

One downside is weight capacity.

These usually max out at 15kg (depending on the brand). So they're better suited to toddlers aged between 1 to 3 years old.

Frame-mount baby bike seats.

Frame-mount child seats connect directly to the frame.

Frame-mount options can be cleanly removed from the frame. There's no rack or large fittings left on.

The Kids Ride Shotgun child seats can accommodate kids up to 27kg (for the Shotgun 2.0 and Shotgun Pro models). And 22kg for the Shotgun
