The Shimano XT BR-M8220 is a 4-piston, 2-piece caliper. The strongest in the M8200 lineup. And the Shimano XT BR-M8200 is a lighter 2-piston setup designed for cross-country and light trails.

The four pistons deliver superior power and modulation, giving riders the confidence to handle steep descents, rough terrain, and aggressive riding with precise braking control.

Whereas the 2-piston delivers better modulation for trails that aren't as steep. These brakes don't shut the power down as quickly as the 4-pistons, so riders can maintain momentum on flatter terrain.

To ensure consistency, Shimano has updated the seals and uses a new low viscosity mineral oil. This keeps the brakes’ bite point stable in all temperatures and trail conditions. So you can trust your braking feel whether you’re riding in hot summer heat or wet, muddy winter trails.
