A DEEPER LOOK
In this preview, we’re going to explain what the Beasley 26 is all about.
WHAT IS THE BEASLEY 26?
Haro designed the Beasley to be light - that design requirement was at the top of the list.
But a lot of lightweight bikes have very narrow tyres and don’t come with disc brakes. Which limits the use to concrete paths.
To make the Beasley 26 more versatile, Haro has 2.10-inch wide tyres to float over rough roads and smooth out bumps from dirt and gravel surfaces (while delivering more grip).
So, the Beasley is a lightweight street bike that can also handle dirt and gravel trails.
WHO IS THE BEASLEY FOR?
For parents who value a lightweight kids bike that is easily manageable by young, growing riders. And a street bike that’s also versatile because it needs to cope with bike paths plus be at home on smooth dirt and gravel surfaces.
We generally recommend the 26-inch wheel size for tall 8 year olds and 9 year old riders.
THE COMPONENTS
The reason why the Beasley 26 is so light is because almost every major component is made from aluminium; frame, fork, bars, wheels and cranks.
Next, mechanical disc brakes help slow riders down.
They have more stopping power in dry and wet conditions than rim-brakes traditionally found on kids bikes. Plus they deliver this power with more control, giving young riders confidence.
It’s also worth noting that the brake levers can be adjusted so they sit closer to the handlebars for small hands.
Haro has kept the gear system clean and simple for the Beasley 26. They’ve done this by using a single front chainring or single gear that’s paired to 7 rear gears.
A single front gear means there’s no need for a front derailleur, shift cable or handlebar gear shifter; significantly reducing the amount of moving parts required.
And, as you can see above and below, makes the Beasley much cleaner and less complicated.
Major gearing components are sourced from Shimano.
And a grip-shifter on the handlebar helps riders change gears.
