Orbea Orca

What is the Orbea Orca?

For us, we think of the Orbea's Orca as an exceptional all-rounder.

It's a super interesting Endurance road bike.

Because like all Endurance road bikes it's comfortable.

But unlike the rest, it's fast.

For those familiar with Giant roadies, think of the Orca as a cross-between the Giant Defy and TCR.

You'll love the Orca if...

If you want an almost perfect blend of sporty handling and comfortable positioning.

We'd recommend the Orca to anyone who:

  • Is currently riding a race bike (like the TCR, Tarmac or Emonda) but wants their positioning to be more relaxed - without sacrificing responsiveness.
  • A comfortable roadie that's fun, responsive and versatile. It can hammer Beach Road and is also at home climbing serious vertical ascents.
  • You're a new rider or currently riding a really old road bike.

There's two types of Orca.

It's a little confusing but absolutely worth mentioning. These are:

  • Orca OMX
  • Orca OMR

They look identical but there's a big difference in how these 2 frames ride.

OMR. Smooth & comfy.

Orca OMR frames are made & tuned differently to the OMX.

These bikes are designed for riders who prefer:

  • A smooth road feel on road roughs
  • Stable handling
  • All-round comfort

Where most brands use a T-500 or T-700, Orbea uses a premium T-800 for OMR frames.

OMX. It's all about response.

OMX bikes are designed for those who value:

  • The lightest weight
  • Instant response and feedback
  • A slightly stiffer chassis

Where the OMR uses a T-800 weave, the OMX uses a stiffer T-1000.

How do you tell if it's OMX?

If there's an LTD in the name, it's an OMX frame.

  • Size-Tuned Stiffness

Every frame gets a different stiffness tune.

Small riders don't need the same level of stiffness as taller riders.

  • Powerspline

    Orca balances featherweight with response.

Focus on enhance stiffness in the lower portion of the frame ensures efficient power transfer to road & exceptional handling.

  • Comfy

There needs to compliance or flex to balance out stiffness.

Orca uses round slim tubes and flat tubes that results in localised flex zones; delivering high levels of comfort on long rides.

  • Versatile

Clearance for 32mm wide tyres allows the Orca to be used on light gravel and dirt roads.

And it improves comfortable even further due to higher air volumes.

    Think micro-suspension.
