Our Link Viper 24 is a 24-inch mountain bike designed for riders from 7 years old. It's designed for rail trails, suburban bike paths and smooth off-road trails.
In this preview of the Viper 24 we'll explain who should consider buying the Viper and key components.

Who Should Consider the Viper 24?
The Viper 24 should be considered by kids who are upgrading from a 20-inch bike or smaller.
It's a slightly bigger frame than some of our other 24-inch bikes (like the Haro Flightline 24 or Giant Talon 24), so riders will get a little longer out of the Viper 24.

It's a versatile kids mountain bike.
The bike is designed for smooth paths, dirt and gravel trails.
Suspension and smooth rolling wide tyres, make it rideable on a variety of different surfaces.

The Viper 24 Components
Front suspension not only absorbs bumps, it has other benefits too.
It makes the steering more stable on loose surfaces. The front of the bike doesn't feel reactive, so it's more manageable for young riders.
Second, suspension adds extra height to the front of the bike.
As kids grow into the bike, and taller, they are not going to be hunched over the front of the Viper 24. Long term, the bike delivers better ergonomics.

See the red dial?
That's a lockout dial. Kids can choose to keep the suspension firm or plush, depending on how bumpy the path is.

Disc brakes deliver better stopping power and therefore easier speed control.

Good quality Tektro brake levers are designed for kids' hands. These can also be adjusted so that they sit closer to the handlebar for an easier reach for smaller hands.

Gears are simple and very easy to use.
At this price point most gear shifters are a twist-grip style. Sometimes these can be a little more difficult to use for small hands.
The Viper 24's trigger-shifter is easier and has a push/pull action compared to a twist action.

There are no front gears.
This keeps the gear system simple and maintenance low, because there's less moving parts. Kids only have to focus on using one gear shifter on the handlebar (instead of 2).
There's also a MegaDrive cog on the back cassette. This allows kids to climb hills easier.

And because there's no front gears, there's less moving parts.
There's no front derailleur, gear shifter or gear cables. It's a super clean and quiet setup.

Tyres are also very versatile. They roll fast on smooth paths but also have enough grip on dirt and gravel paths.
