The Overdrive 29 2 is a bike made for fitness and everyday riding. It's designed for bike paths, rail trails, and smooth gravel or dirt tracks.
What is the Overdrive 29?
Diamondback designed the Overdrive 29 as a fun, easy to ride mountain bike. It's perfect for those riders who are not mountain biking. And don't need a proper mountain bike.
Yes, it sounds a little odd.
Think of the Overdrive 29 as an inbetween-er. A cross-over between a hybrid and mountain bike.
It has more suspension and wider tyres than a hybrid (like the Giant Roam). Enhancing comfort over rough paths and grip over loose surfaces.
Who is the Overdrive 29 for?
It's designed for riders spending time on suburban bike paths, rail trails, 4-wheel drive tracks and smooth off-road trails.
Riders that prefer a mountain bike for the extra comfort, stable handling and grip.
Overdrive 29 2 Key Components
At the front is a better-than-average suspension fork - the RockShox Judy TK. It's proper coil spring smooths out bumps, small and harsh impacts.
It has a lockout too.
This dial makes the suspension hard for riding on smooth bike paths. It makes the Overdrive 29 2 easier to pedal. For rougher trails, keep the suspension in soft (or open) to help it absorb impacts.
Next:
The Overdrive 2 uses reliable Shimano Alivio mid-range components. These are better than average for the price point. Alivio is designed as an upper-end recreational level gear system.
There are 2 front gears and 9 rear gears. The gear ratio is suited to both paths and gentle off-road trails.
Hydraulic disc brakes deliver a smooth lever feel and excellent stopping power. Unlike mechanical brakes, these have less maintenance. Because there's no inner brake cable to maintain.
