Haro Flightline Two
The Haro Flightline Two recreational mountain bike features one of the best aluminium alloy frames we’ve ever seen in our range.
This coupled with excellent mid-range components like Shimano gears and mechanical disc brakes, makes the Flightline a contender for your mountain bike short list.
It sits very close to the Giant ATX but if you can comfortably afford the extra, it's well worth the extra investment.
Key Features
- Premium aluminium frame
- Shimano 24 speed (3x8) gears
- Strong aluminium double wall rims
- Mechanical disc brakes
What is the Flightline Two?
The Flightline Two is Haro’s recreational mountain bike.
It’s designed for riders who are looking to ride rail trails and bike paths with the family or simply for general fitness.
It’s available in 2 wheel sizes; 27.5-inch for smaller riders and 29-inch for taller riders.
Who is the Flightline for?
The Haro Flightline Two in the 27.5 version is going to be the go to mountain bike for smaller riders.
The 27.5-inch wheels ensure a lower frame for easy mounting and dismounting.
Also:
It’s easy for young riders to handle and move around. The smaller wheel diameter (compared to 29-inch wheels) reacts easier to small inputs making the bike more responsive and agile.
For taller riders, the 29-inch wheel version is ideal.
It lifts the handlebars higher, delivering better posture for taller riders. And the wheels roll more efficiently too; covering more distance with less effort.
The wide tyres deliver superb grip and comfort, and their low-tread profile ensures the Flightline Two rolls easily.
The Frame
The Flightline’s new X6 6000-series frame is a better-than-average aluminium frame and easily comparable to, if not better than, the popular brands out there.
The multi-butted design means it has a better strength-to-weight ratio. Haro engineer’s have been able to remove material where it’s not required and added material where it is necessary.
Internal cable routing keeps the Flightline Two's frame looking tidy. Not only does this make the bike look cleaner and neater, it will also reduce maintenance on gear and brake cables.
The Components
There are a total of 24-gears; 3 front and 8 back.
All the components are sourced from Shimano. And they're part of the Tourney family.
These are excellent recreational level components that are designed for on pavement and mild off-road conditions (like smooth dirt and gravel trails).
Note on the front gears:- Gear number 2 is the most used gear. It can handle almost all gradients
- Gear 3 is used for generating speed on descents; it's the hardest gear.
- Gear 1 is the easiest; used for climbing steep hills.
Most of your riding time will be spent using the back gears though.
That's because these deliver small and accurate gear changes, making them more usable.
And the rear gears are controlled using the right hand side gear shifter.
Mechanical disc brakes improve safety because:
- They deliver more stopping power in dry and wet conditions.
- They last longer than rim brakes.
- For riders with small hands, the brake levers can be adjusted closer to the handlebar.
There's also enough suspension to smooth out bumps from corrugations on dirt roads and rough suburban bike paths.
Suspension also helps deliver a more relaxed riding position. It lifts the handlebars and takes weight off the hands.
