Norco Fluid Youth 27.5"

The Norco Fluid FS Youth 27.5 is a full-suspension trail bike for young riders who have outgrown 24" wheels, sized for riders 141 to 156cm tall.

It has 120mm of rear travel, a 130mm air fork and a dropper post, with kid-sized cranks, brake levers and grips. Its Maxxis Minion tyres are the same ones you'll find on adult trail bikes.

Suspension that works for lighter riders

Suspension on a kids bike only works if it moves under a light rider.

Suspension that's too firm for a child's weight barely moves, so it doesn't do much.

The Fluid FS Youth uses air suspension at both ends: an X-Fusion RC32 fork and an X-Fusion 02 Pro R shock. Air springs can be set to your child's weight with a shock pump, so the suspension soaks up roots and rocks the way it's meant to.

As your child grows, add air to match. It's worth rechecking the setup every few months.

Sized for smaller bodies

• 155mm cranks: shorter than the 170 to 175mm cranks on adult bikes, so shorter legs can pedal smoothly and keep the pedals clear of rocks.
• Short-reach brake levers: Tektro's junior two-finger levers are shaped for small hands, so young riders can reach and squeeze them with confidence.
• Youth grips: 115mm lock-on grips, shorter than adult grips.
• Kids-tune dropper post: a TranzX dropper with 100mm of travel, tuned for lighter riders. It lets them drop the saddle out of the way on descents and raise it again for climbing.
• Short 35mm stem: for quick, responsive steering.

Real trail tyres and brakes

The Maxxis Minion DHF (2.5") front and Minion DHR II (2.4") rear tyres are proven trail tyres widely fitted to adult mountain bikes, with EXO casings for extra protection against cuts. They're mounted on wide WTB ST rims with a 27mm internal width, which supports the tyre and helps it grip in corners.

Tektro HD-J285 hydraulic disc brakes with 160mm rotors front and rear give strong, consistent braking with a light pull at the lever.

9-speed microSHIFT Advent gearing

One chainring at the front and nine gears at the back, worked by a single shifter. The microSHIFT Advent rear derailleur has a clutch, which keeps the chain tight on rough descents so it's less likely to slap the frame or come off.

Built on adult standards

The frame uses the same standards as adult trail bikes: a tapered head tube, Boost thru-axles front and rear, and SRAM's Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH). The UDH means a replacement hanger is easy to find, and the frame is ready for SRAM's hangerless Transmission drivetrains if you want to upgrade later.

Growing through the Fluid FS range

The Fluid FS Youth comes in three wheel sizes, so a young rider can move up through the range as they grow.

Smaller riders start on the 20" Norco Fluid FS Youth, then the 24" Fluid FS Youth, then this 27.5. When they outgrow it, the adult Norco Fluid FS is the next step.
