Avid/SRAM Code Disc Brake Pads - Organic

The Avid Code MY11 Organic Steel disc brake pads are compatible with Avid Code brakes from model year 2011 onwards, as well as SRAM Guide RE, G2 RE, and DB8 models.

These pads feature an organic compound paired with a steel backing plate, offering quiet braking performance and reduced rotor wear, making them ideal for trail, enduro, and downhill riding.

Compound

  • Organic
  • Material: Made primarily of organic materials like Kevlar, resin, and sometimes small amounts of metal.

Performance

  • Quieter than metallic (sintered) pads.
  • Softer feel at the lever — more modulation (gradual braking) rather than a hard, on/off sensation.
  • Better initial bite — they grip the rotor quickly with light brake lever pressure.
  • Less rotor wear compared to sintered pads.

Downsides

  • Shorter lifespan than metallic pads, especially in wet and muddy conditions.
  • Can fade (lose braking power) on very long, steep descents due to heat buildup.
