Haro MTB

Haro options.

Founded by Bob Haro in 1978, their grassroots has always been in BMX and Mountain (MTB).

History aside though, Haro’s latest range of Flightline and Double Peak mountain bikes are properly good.

Both these bikes are perfect for pavement, suburbia, rail trails and light dirt/gravel trails.

Like the Giant ATX, the Haro Flightline is a reliable entry to mid-range mountain bike.

The Double Peak is similar to the Giant Talon, delivering excellent value and quality.

For the kids.

Haro's mountain bike range actually starts from their kids bikes.

Flightline 20 is a 20-inch mountain bike with suspension and gears.

The Flightline 20 Plus is a new model that deletes the suspension fork and adds wider tyres with a lot more air volume.

Removing suspension reduces weight. But the wider tyres (2.60-inches vs. 2.00-inches) act like micro-suspension and add a lot more grip on unstable surfaces.

The Flightline 24 is a 24-inch bike version of the Flightline 20.

And the Flightline 24 Plus Disc is the 24-inch version of the Flightline 20 Plus (and it has hydraulic disc brakes).

A lightweight option.

Think of the Flightline One R (and the One R Girls) as the street version of the Flightline.

It's essentially a mountain bike but designed to be lighter than the Flightline

The R = Rigid = no front suspension.

So, if you want the grip of a mountain bike but not the weight, then the One R could be worth considering.

It's only available in youth sizing; XS and S. So it'll be ideal for riders between 9 and 12 years old.

The bigger Flightline. Adults, pre-teens and teens.

Haro has a couple of equivalents to the Giant ATX:

Think of the Flightline as a recreational mountain that's designed for suburban bike paths through to country rail trails.

It's perfect for riding with mates, family and fitness.

The Flightline Two is the more expensive option and gets the following upgrades:

  • Mechanical disc brakes.
  • 8 speed (instead of 7) gearing system.
  • Better and more front suspension.

The Double Peak bikes.

The Double Peak range is Haro's upper-end mountain bikes.

The DoublePeak Sport is the starting point.

It uses a mid-range 8 speed Shimano gear system. There are 2 front gears and 8 rear gears on this Sport version.

It also uses Radius hydraulic disc brakes. A must have on any new mountain bike.

And the Double Peak Trail uses exactly the same frame as the Sport but has a couple of upgrades.

The first is the Shimano 9 speed gear system. There are 2 front gears and 9 rear gears, delivering a total of 18 gears.

Lastly, we have the range topping Double Peak Comp.

It's a mountain bike that's designed for raw, technical trails. And the components are heavily upgraded to deliver more reliability and durability under these harsher conditions.
