Who is the Rocky Mountain Instinct for?
The Instinct is perfect for:
- Riders who are either on a front-suspension or short travel dual-suspension mountain bike.
- New riders that aren't confident and want a bike that is extremely forgiving on their poor line choice and/or body position.
- Riders that want a bike they can take anywhere without it feeling like the wrong bike.
- A bike that covers a huge range of terrain and riding styles; from high-speed flow trails to raw, technical single track.
Instinct. Explain it like I'm 5.
Rocky Mountain's Instinct comes in aluminium and carbon frames.
The frame is designed with 140mm of rear wheel travel and it's paired to a 150mm travel fork.
It's called a mid-travel trail bike.
The Instinct range starts with the Instinct Alloy 10 and ends at the Instinct Carbon 90 (sometimes Carbon 99 if Rocky decide to really make our eyes water with the price).
The Instinct also gives riders loads of adjustments which we'll go through next.
Yup, 9 ways to setup the Instinct.
You thought that was all?
Nah, no way. You're gonna love this.
The Instinct can also change character.
There are 9 different ways to set the Instinct - called Ride 9.
I know, I know.
You're probably thinking:
Why would I want nine positions?
Well...
Truth? You don't need 9 positions.
But the point is you have the freedom to adjust your Instinct based on the way you ride and your terrain.
Position 1 for steep, raw, high-speed terrain.
Position 9 delivers efficiency and a boost in climbing performance.
You got options.
And if you wanna leave it neutral (position 5) for eternity, that is OK too.
Oh, and there's 2 rear length positions.
So essentially, you can adjust how long you want the back of the Altitude to be.
There are 2 positions - Long and Short.
Why is this necessary?
- For riders who want snappy handling or are riding tight trails. The Short position delivers this.
- For riders the who are riding super fast flow trails where extra stability and calm is required.
Instinct Powerplay. If you wanna go Electric.
The Instinct Powerplay fundamentally is the same bike.
Even down the suspension feel and handling.
The latest generation Dyname 4.0 drive unit powers the Instinct Powerplay.
It delivers 108Nm of torque and 880W of peak power.
But it's how it delivers the power that makes amazing to ride.
