Hybrid Bikes for Men & Women

(28 products)

Hybrid bikes combine features of both road and mountain bikes. They have a comfortable upright riding position, wider tyres for traction and some include suspension forks and disc brakes.

Hybrids are suitable for a variety of terrain types; including paved bike paths, gravel paths and rail trails.

That's why they're such a popular option for commuting, fitness and riding with family and mates.

What is a hybrid bike?

A hybrid bike is a cross-between road and mountain bike.

Just like mountain bikes:

Some hybrid bikes have front suspension and all have a wide range of gears (that allow you to ride uphill easily).

And unlike mountain bikes:

Hybrids have slimmer tyres (up to 50mm wide, although 42mm is common) and less suspension (up to 65mm vs. 100mm+ for mountain bikes).

Less suspension and slimmer tyres is what makes these bikes more efficient than a mountain bike to ride on rail trails and suburban bike paths.

Who should consider a hybrid bike?

Riders that want a general fitness bike that they can use anywhere.

Something that is versatile. It can be ridden on gravel roads, sealed paths and other mixed surfaces.

And something that's easy to ride, comfortable and has a relaxed riding position.

The Giant Roam. The Liv Rove.

The Giant Roam is an example of a popular hybrid option. And Liv is Giant's women's division.

The Liv Rove is the women's equivalent of the Giant Roam.

Giant has been making the Roam since 2010.

So they've got a huge amount of data on what components work, the geometry, the touch points for posture and how the bike should ride based on customer feedback.

Electric Hybrid Bikes

Electric hybrid bikes or Hybrid e-bikes are essentially the same. Except they have a motor and more robust parts to handle the extra power from the drive unit.

Electric hybrid bikes are a whole different category.

But now that we have a motor, you'll have to decide on a couple of factors such as whether you want rear hub drive, mid-drive and the torque output.

A good starting point is the Shogun EB3 with its rear hub drive motor. It's designed for recreational bike rides on easy paths and gentle gradients.

Next is the Giant Roam E+ and Liv Rove E+. These bikes use smooth Yamaha mid-drive motors that have natural power delivery and handling
