GIANT TCR

Close

The Giant TCR (Total Compact Road) is neither complete Endurance or Aero. It’s a distinct blend of both.

And as such it is the most versatile road bike in Giant’s range.

Within the Giant’s TCR family there are 3 different platforms (from cheapest to most expensive):

TCR Advanced
TCR Advanced Pro
TCR Advanced SL

Within each platform there are several models at different price points.

THE TCR ADVANCED

TCR Advanced road bikes are designed for riders who are entering the sport of road cycling.

It actually uses the same frame as the high level TCR Advanced Pro 0 - including the fork.

The old TCR Advanced fork used an aluminium steerer and carbon blades. The new one? It’s now full-carbon; making the bike lighter and the front end more responsive.

For 2024, the range starts with the TCR Advanced 2 ($3,799.00).

This build kit uses the latest Shimano 105 12-speed groupset and Giant P-R2 alloy wheels. It’s perfect for someone who wants to start out on a budget-performance package.

The TCR Advanced 2 is a lower entry cost, but be prepared to upgrade stuff as you develop as a rider. One upgrade area is usually wheels; something that comes with the higher level builds.

Next is the TCR Advanced 1. The difference between the Advanced 2 and Advanced 1 is the upgrade to Shimano’s latest 105 Di2 group set; semi-wireless electronic gears deliver smooth, fast and very reliable gear shifting.

TCR ADVANCED PRO

Things start to get serious from here.

And not only that, this is also Giant’s most popular TCR platform. As such there’s 4 unique models to choose from for model year 2024.

Here we go:

Entry point into the Pro range starts at the TCR Advanced Pro 1 Di2 ($6,199.00). This build has the latest Shimano 105 Di2 12-speed groupset paired to Giant’s SLR 1 36 carbon wheels.

Then we go up to the TCR Advanced Pro 1 AXS ($6,999.00). The word “AXS” refers to the gears on this model; it uses SRAM’s Rival eTap AXS groupset. This is a full-wireless groupset. And it’s paired to the same SLR 1 36 wheels.

Both of the TCR Advanced Pro 1 models above also come with a dual-sided power meter.

Next we have the TCR Advanced Pro 0 Di2 ($7,699.00) which features a complete Shimano Ultegra Di2 12-speed groupset and Giant SLR 1 36 wheels like the models above.

Then there’s the TCR Advanced Pro 0 AXS ($8,299.00)

It’s got the DNA of a TCR but Giant has decided to make it a little more versatile - more “All Road”.

This was done by re-tuning the gear range to allow riders to climb up steep gradients. This means the front crankset is a touch smaller and the rear cassette delivers a wider range.

Tyres was another area. Most TCR Pro’s come with 26-28mm wide tyres. This Pro 0 AXS is 32mm. Wider equals a smoother ride and more comfort - whilst still maintaining that exciting and dynamic feel.

It’s also worth noting that both TCR ADvanced Pro 0 builds also use Giant’s faster CADEX tyres instead of the Gavia tyres.

TCR ADVANCED SL

The TCR Advanced SL’s are the best in class for handling.

Where the Advanced and Advanced Pro frames are very alike, the TCR Advanced SL chassis is a completely different beast altogether.

First, the physical carbon material is different.

It’s a lighter and stiffer weave that minimises excessive resin use. Manufacturing differences also result in less joins which equals a frame that has a better stiffness-to-weight ratio.

The result?

Superior handling for those that love to push their limits.

And the SL range begins at the TCR Advanced SL 1 ($8,999.00). This build features a Shimano Ultegra Di2 groupset with a power meter and SLR 1 36 wheels.

And then we have the range-topping TCR Advanced SL 0 ($12,999.00). The latest Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 12-speed components at its heart and paired to premium Cadex 42 carbon wheels.
