The 2027 Giant Trance Advanced E+ 1 is the build in Giant's new carbon trail e-MTB range where the money goes furthest.
It has the same carbon frame, SyncDrive Pro4 motor (120Nm, 850W peak) and 840Wh battery as the flagship E+ 0, with Fox Performance suspension, wireless SRAM GX Eagle Transmission and an electronic dropper post. Travel is 160mm front and 150mm rear on mixed 29in and 27.5in wheels.
Why the E+ 1 is the sweet spot
The parts that decide how a trail e-MTB climbs and descends are the frame, the motor, the battery, the suspension design and the tyres.
On the E+ 1, all of those are identical to the E+ 0. What the E+ 0 adds is mostly lighter and more adjustable versions of parts the E+ 1 already has.
That makes the E+ 1 the build most riders will get the most out of per dollar.
Fox 36 and Float X Performance
The Fox 36 Performance fork runs Fox's GRIP damper with a three-position lever (open, medium, firm), and the Float X Performance shock has a two-position lever. Both are custom tuned for this bike.
You get the same Fox chassis as the E+ 0, with simpler damper adjustment.
For most riders, setting sag and rebound properly matters more than the extra High and Low-speed dials on the Factory version.
Wireless shifting and an electronic dropper
SRAM GX Eagle Transmission AXS shifts wirelessly through a pod on the bar, with a 10-52T cassette. The derailleur bolts directly to the frame's UDH interface, with no hanger to bend on rocks.
The Giant Contact Switch E dropper is electronic and runs off the bike's main battery, so there's no separate dropper battery to charge.
It's operated wirelessly from the bar, with 140mm of travel on Small, 170mm on Medium and Large, and 200mm on XL.
Giant's new E+ system
The SyncDrive Pro4 motor weighs 2.4kg and makes 120Nm and 850W peak.
Giant rates it to hold its output from 0 to 140rpm, so it doesn't fade when you spin a fast, light gear up a climb.
Giant co-developed the motor housing with Yamaha so it fits around the Maestro suspension's pivots, rather than compromising the suspension to fit an off-the-shelf motor.
The motor reads six inputs in real time: your pedalling torque, cadence, speed, the slope, power and acceleration.
There are six ride modes (Eco, Tour, Active, Sport, Power and Boost), plus custom profiles you can build in the RideControl app, adjusting support from 0 to 500%, responsiveness, acceleration and how long the motor runs on after you stop pedalling.
Traction Control watches for rear-wheel slip and briefly backs off the power to help the tyre regain grip, then restores it.
Tyre pressure monitoring shows both pressures on the frame display before you ride.
The 840Wh EnergyPak Smart battery removes from the frame, and the optional EnergyPak Plus 280 extender takes capacity to 1,120Wh.
Geometry and wheels
The 29in front wheel rolls over roots and rocks, and the 27.5in rear keeps the back end short and easy to whip around tight corners.
A three-position flip chip adjusts the head angle between roughly 64.1 and 64.9 degrees. Giant E-TRA hookless alloy rims (30mm internal) carry a Maxxis Assegai 2.5in front in MaxxGrip and a Minion DHR II 2.4in rear in MaxxTerra, both EXO+ casings. TRP EVO Expert four-piston brakes with 220mm and 203mm rotors stop it.
E+ 1, E+ SE or E+ 0?
Step up to the Trance Advanced E+ 0 for Fox Factory suspension with the GRIP X damper, SRAM X0 Transmission, carbon wheels and an adjustable one-piece carbon cockpit.
If you'd rather spend less but keep electronic shifting and the electronic dropper, the Trance Advanced E+ SE pairs Giant's own Crest suspension with TRP electronic shifting controlled from the same E+ remote.
Compare the 2027 Trance Advanced E+ range
All four builds share the same Advanced-grade carbon frame, SyncDrive Pro4 120Nm motor, 840Wh battery, 160/150mm travel and Maxxis tyres. Here's what changes. On a phone, swipe the table sideways to see every build.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between the Trance Advanced E+ 1 and E+ 0?
The frame, motor, battery, travel and tyres are the same. The E+ 0 has Fox Factory instead of Performance suspension, SRAM X0 instead of GX Transmission, carbon instead of alloy wheels, carbon cranks, TRP EVO Pro brakes and an adjustable carbon cockpit.
What's the difference between the Trance Advanced E+ 1 and E+ SE?
Both have electronic shifting and an electronic dropper. The E+ 1 uses Fox Performance suspension, SRAM GX Transmission 12-speed and TRP EVO Expert brakes. The SE uses Giant Crest suspension, TRP electronic 11-speed shifting controlled through the E+ remote, and TRP EVO Comp brakes.
Does the dropper post need its own battery?
No. The Contact Switch E dropper runs off the bike's main battery.
What is Traction Control on the Giant Trance Advanced E+?
It detects rear-wheel slip and briefly adjusts motor output so the tyre can regain grip, then restores normal assistance.
Is the Giant SyncDrive Pro4 a Yamaha motor?
Giant co-developed the SyncDrive Pro4's motor housing with Yamaha, designed around the Trance's Maestro suspension.
What ride modes does the Trance Advanced E+ have?
Six: Eco, Tour, Active, Sport, Power and Boost, plus custom profiles set up in the RideControl app.
What size battery does the Trance Advanced E+ 1 have?
