Our brands.

Brands like Liv are at the forefront of women's frame design.

They are an organisation made up of female riders that has a focus on delivering the best bikes for women. The best handling, ergonomics and rider positioning.

Orbea is a high-end boutique Spanish brand that has been producing bikes for almost 100 years (circa 1930).

Rocky Mountain is our premium Canadian mountain bike specialist brand.

Orbea and Rocky Mountain produce unisex MTBs.

In our experience in-store, both brands produce bikes that are equally as comfortable for women.

Women's electric mountain bikes.

There are actually 2 different types of women's E-MTBs:

  • Front suspension only (also called hardtails).
  • Dual-suspension (or full-suspension).

You should consider buying a hardtail E-MTB if:

  • You prefer the feel of wider tyres and the peace of mind of extra grip.
  • At least 50% of your bike rides are on unsealed surfaces (such as rail trails).
  • You prefer steering and handling that feels stable and calm.

You should consider a dual-suspension E-MTB if you plan to ride mountain bike trails where there are exposed tree roots and rocks. Features such as jumps, drop-offs, berms and rock-gardens.

Locations such as Lysterfield Park, Plenty Gorge, the You Yangs and alpine areas such as Bright are just some of the places where you'll love the comfort, confidence and stability of a dual-suspension EMTB.

Women's EMTB options.

For hardtails a good place to start is the Liv Tempt E+ range, where riders get 2 options:

The Tempt E+ mountain bikes have up to 50Nm of torque and up to a 500Wh battery.

For dual-suspension, the Intrigue X Advanced E+ Elite range is a superb lightweight, all-round, versatile women's specific EMTB.

And, there's also the unisex Rocky Mountain Instinct Powerplay.

The Intrigue will be light and nimble. But the Powerplay offers a bigger battery (720Wh vs. 400Wh) and more torque (108Nm vs. 85Nm).

For super aggressive riders, consider the Altitude Powerplay

It's designed for raw, technical and high-speed trails where more (and bigger) suspension and powerful brakes are required.

Women's electric hybrid bikes.

A hybrid is cross-between road and mountain bike.

For us, it is the most popular type of women's electric bike we sell.

Because they can suit (almost) any rider - especially new riders.

You should consider a hybrid electric bike if:

  • You're riding a combination of paved and unsealed surfaces.
  • You're not going to be riding mountain bike trails.

There are 2 types of electric hybrids:

  • Without suspension
  • With suspension

With suspension.

Electric hybrids with suspension have the following advantages:

  • They increase the height of the handlebars. This places you in a more relaxed riding position.
  • Smoother over rough surfaces.
  • Slightly slower handling delivers more stability.

Disadvantages:

  • Frequent basic maintenance of suspension.
  • Suspension makes the bike heavier. But the extra power compensates for this.

Examples:

Without suspension.

These bikes are slightly lighter like the:

Or a lot lighter like the:

Not having suspension means your position on the bike changes; you're leaning forward more.

If you're flexible, it won't be an issue.

However, if you prefer to be in a more upright position then we'd suggest going with our suspension options.

The handling on these bikes is a touch more responsive and these electric bikes generally feel sportier.

Womens electric road bikes.

Really there's only one brand and model that does an amazing job of electric road bikes.

The Orbea Gain is available in both aluminium (models starting with D) and carbon fibre (models starting with M).

It's so light and responsive; plus has the smoothest power delivery.

The premise behind the design was not to let your bike ride be overpowered by the motor or sacrifice handling.

The Gain feels like a normal bike, gently adding power when and where you need it.
