Hornit CLUG Bike Rack

The Hornit CLUG is a small wall-mounted bike rack that holds your bike by the tyre.

You push the tyre into the clip, and the bike stays upright against the wall with one wheel resting on the floor.

It works vertically, with the bike standing on its back wheel, or horizontally, parallel to the wall. Hornit calls it the world's smallest bike rack, and it's a Eurobike Award winner.

Because it clips to the tyre rather than the frame, there's nothing to scratch the paint, and it takes up almost no space on the wall when the bike is out.

Choose your size by measured tyre width

Each CLUG size fits a narrow range of tyre widths, so it can grip the tyre firmly. Pick your size by the actual width of your tyre, not the size printed on the sidewall.

Printed sizes are often wider than the tyre really is, especially on narrower rims.

How to measure: with the tyre inflated to your normal riding pressure, measure straight across the widest part of the tyre with a ruler or vernier calliper.

Between two sizes? Where ranges overlap or you're right on a boundary, Hornit recommends the smaller CLUG for a firmer grip.

Which walls it can go on

The CLUG Hybrid can be fitted to brick, plasterboard (drywall) or a timber stud.

The MTB and MTB XL can only go on brick or into a timber stud. Wider tyres put more leverage on the fixings than plasterboard can hold. If your wall is plasterboard, use a stud finder to locate a stud before you drill.

Screws and Hornit's TOGGLER wall plugs are included, and fitting takes a few minutes with a drill.

Weight limit and e-bikes

Hornit rates the standard CLUG for bikes up to 20kg.

Most e-bikes weigh more than that.

For e-bikes and bikes up to 30kg, choose the Hornit CLUG PRO, which adds a magnetic FIDLOCK winch and cord around the rim so the bike can't drop out, even if a tyre goes flat during long-term storage.

The CLUG Upgrade Kit MTB XL converts it to a CLUG PRO using your existing wall fixings.

Vertical or horizontal

• Vertical: the bike stands on its rear wheel with the front tyre clipped in, taking up the least floor space. It's ideal for hallways, apartments and narrow garages.
• Horizontal: the bike sits parallel to the wall with a tyre clipped in, so there's less lifting.

Either way, at least one wheel stays on the floor. That's part of how CLUG stays so small. Hornit's fitting guide shows the mounting height for each option.

Stored vertically, the rear tyre rests against the wall and will leave marks over time. The Hornit CLUG Mud Pad sticks to painted walls where the tyre touches, and wipes clean.

Which Hornit CLUG size do I need?

Measure your inflated tyre across its widest point. CLUG Hybrid fits 33 to 43mm, CLUG MTB fits 44 to 57mm, and CLUG MTB XL fits 58 to 69mm. If you're on a boundary, choose the smaller size.

Can I mount a CLUG on plasterboard?

The CLUG Hybrid can go on plasterboard. The MTB and MTB XL must be fixed to brick or a timber stud.

Can CLUG hold an e-bike?

The standard CLUG is rated for bikes up to 20kg, so it's not suitable for most e-bikes. The CLUG PRO holds bikes up to 30kg, including e-bikes.

Does CLUG hold the bike off the ground?

No. At least one wheel always rests on the floor, whether the bike is stored vertically or horizontally.

Will CLUG scratch my bike?

No. It holds the bike by the tyre, so nothing touches the frame.

Why does my tyre measure narrower than the size printed on it?

Printed tyre sizes are nominal. The real width depends on your rim width and tyre pressure, and is often a few millimetres narrower. CLUG sizes are based on the real, measured width.
