Hornit CLUG PRO Bike Rack

The Hornit CLUG PRO is a wall-mounted bike rack that holds your bike by the tyre, then locks a cord around the rim with a magnetic FIDLOCK winch. With the winch locked, it holds bikes and e-bikes up to 30kg, and the bike stays put even if a tyre goes flat in long-term storage.

It's the heavy-duty version of the Hornit CLUG, which Hornit calls the world's smallest bike rack and which won a Eurobike Award. The PRO winch was designed with FIDLOCK.

CLUG or CLUG PRO?

The standard Hornit CLUG grips the tyre by friction alone and is rated for bikes up to 20kg. Choose the PRO if either of these applies:

• You're storing an e-bike or a heavier bike. Most e-bikes weigh more than 20kg. The CLUG PRO is rated to 30kg.
• The bike will be stored for weeks or months. Tyres slowly lose pressure, and a soft tyre can loosen a standard CLUG's grip. The PRO's cord holds the rim, so the bike stays put with a flat tyre or if someone knocks it walking past.

How the winch works

Push the tyre into the clip, pass the cord around the rim, and turn the winch to take up the slack.

The ratchet holds the tension and the magnetic FIDLOCK handle locks in place. The cord length adjusts to suit your tyre and rim, and the winch can be set up on either side.

Choose your size by measured tyre width

Pick your size by the actual width of your tyre, not the size printed on the sidewall.

Printed sizes are often wider than the tyre really measures.

With the tyre inflated to riding pressure, measure straight across the widest point with a ruler or vernier calliper. If you're on the boundary between two sizes, Hornit recommends the smaller one for a firmer grip.

Tyres measuring 58 to 69mm?

There's no CLUG PRO in that size in our range.

Choose the standard Hornit CLUG in MTB XL and add the CLUG Upgrade Kit MTB XL. Together they give you the same winch and 30kg rating.

Mounting

CLUG PRO fixes with two screws, using the screws and wall plugs supplied. The Roadie and Hybrid can go on brick, plasterboard or a timber stud. The MTB and Plus must go on brick or into a timber stud, because wider tyres put more leverage on the fixings than plasterboard can hold. Use a stud finder to locate a stud if your wall is plasterboard.

Stored vertically, the rear tyre rests against the wall. A Hornit CLUG Mud Pad stops it marking painted walls.

What's the difference between CLUG and CLUG PRO?
Both hold the bike by the tyre. The PRO adds a cord around the rim with a magnetic FIDLOCK winch, raising the weight rating from 20kg to 30kg and keeping the bike secure if a tyre deflates.

Which CLUG PRO size do I need?
Measure your inflated tyre across its widest point. Roadie fits 23 to 32mm, Hybrid 33 to 43mm, MTB 44 to 57mm and Plus 70 to 81mm. For tyres measuring 58 to 69mm, use a CLUG MTB XL with the CLUG Upgrade Kit MTB XL.

Can I mount a CLUG PRO on plasterboard?
The Roadie and Hybrid sizes can go on plasterboard. The MTB and Plus sizes must be fixed to brick or a timber stud.

Can I upgrade my existing CLUG to a PRO?
Yes, with a Hornit upgrade kit that matches your CLUG's size. We stock the CLUG Upgrade Kit MTB XL, which reuses your existing wall fixings.

Does the bike still touch the floor?
Yes. At least one wheel rests on the floor, whether you store the bike vertically or horizontally.

Is it safe for people with pacemakers?
The winch contains magnets, which Hornit warns may be harmful to pacemakers and other sensitive equipment.
