What is the Giant Revolt?
The Giant gravel bike range is called the Giant Revolt.
Giant created the Revolt as a dedicated gravel bike. And not a crossover between cyclo-cross and gravel.
Since 2011, the TCX has been the cross-over bike between cyclo-cross and gravel. As gravel bikes became popular, the role of the TCX shifted to cyclo-cross racing.
And the Giant Revolt (and Liv Devote women's) became the dedicated gravel bike.

Is the Revolt the right bike?
It is the right gravel bike if:
- You want a robust commuting bike.
- You want a bike that is efficient and comfortable.
- You're a new rider who wants a bike with stable, confident handling.
- Your bike needs to accommodate extra storage such as frame bags and pannier racks.
- You already own a road bike and want a second bike to act like a workhorse over Winter.

There's 4 types of Giant Revolts.
Giant has a mix of aluminium and carbon frames.
The carbon range is where it gets a little tricky but we're going to make it simple:
- Revolt (aluminium)
- Revolt Advanced (carbon)
- Revolt X Advanced (suspension + carbon)
- Revolt Advanced Pro (electronic gears + carbon)
Note: anytime you see Advanced, this means the Revolt uses a carbon frame.
Next, we'll cover each Revolt platform in a little more detail.

Revolt. For new & experienced riders.
There are 2 aluminium Revolt models for riders to choose from:
- Giant Revolt 2 $1,899.00
- Giant Revolt 1 $2,499.00
Both use a carbon front fork. Think of this as micro-suspension; absorbing surface level chattery impacts.
The Revolt 2 Giant gravel bike uses Shimano 9-speed gears.
And the Giant Revolt 1 uses Shimano 10-speed gears.
There is a difference in the quality of the gears.
10-speed components on the Revolt 1 are more robust because they're designed for rugged conditions.
Plus, the Revolt 1 gets hydraulic disc brakes compared to the Revolt 2's mechanical disc.
That said, the Giant Revolt 2 is an excellent gravel bike for new riders because it still has

Revolt Advanced. The sweet spot.
For MY2025, there are 3 models within the Revolt Advanced family.
- Giant Revolt Advanced 3 $3,199.00
- Giant Revolt Advanced 1 $4,199.00
- Giant Revolt Advanced 0 $5,199.00
All of the above models have carbon frames and slightly wider tyres (40mm to 45mm vs. 38mm for the alloy Revolts).
But it's only the Revolt Advanced 0 that gets carbon wheels.
Starting at the Revolt Advanced 3.
Think of this model as affordable performance.
The carbon frame is paired to Shimano 10-speed gears and hydraulic disc brakes. It's a solid workhorse build.
The extra $500 moves you into the Revolt Advanced 2.
And gets you the latest 12-speed gearing parts.
So we're talking better shifters, brakes, cassette, derailleurs and crank set.
The Giant Revolt Advanced 1 is the only build with a single front gear.
Think of this model as the rugged off-roader.
It's got a dropper seat post.
And wider (45mm) tyres compared to 40mm.
The Revolt Advanced 0 is the baller build. It has the better 12-speed hardware and lightweight carbon gravel wheels.
The CXR 2 carbon wheels weight in at 1,518g vs. the PX-2 wheels at 2,030g.

Revolt X Advanced. True off-road.
Even though it's been dropped from the MY2025 line, the Revolt X Advanced will still appeal to those who:
- Ride technical trails with lots of exposed tree roots and rocks.
- Prefer the smoothest possible ride and are willing to put up with a slightly heavier bike.
Revolt bike options include:

Revolt Advanced Pro.
The Revolt Advanced Pro 0 is designed to be the lightest and fastest Giant gravel bike - without compromising comfort.
Standout components of the Pro 0 are:
- Giant's top-end super fast gravel carbon wheel set (1,398g).
- SRAM Force AXS wireless electronic gears.
- Giant SLR carbon handlebars.
- Giant SLR carbon seat post for more flex and comfort.
