Giant Revolt 2 (2025)
Giant's Revolt 2 is where the Revolt gravel bike range starts.
It's the most inexpensive model in the Revolt range but it's far from an entry-level gravel bike. The Revolt 2 uses the same geometry as the higher priced models.
In this preview, we'll explain what the new Giant Revolt 2 is, who should consider it and cover the most important details.
What is the Giant Revolt 2?
The Revolt 2 is a gravel bike.
This means it's designed for calm handling.
It's stable at high-speed.
And extremely comfortable to ride.
These handling is determined by the Revolt 2's geometry, which we'll go through in a little more detail below.
Who should consider the Revolt 2?
You should consider the Revolt 2 if you:
- Need a reliable, comfortable and stable handling commuter bike.
- Prefer a drop-bar (or curved handlebar) bike that can handle a wide variety of surface types.
- Are willing to sacrifice some speed for a more relaxed riding position and versatility.
The Revolt 2 Geometry
The reason why the Revolt 2 handles the way it does is because of its geometry. Think tube lengths and angles.
Starting at the front of the Revolt:
The head tube angle is slacker compared to a road bike.
This has the effect of pushing the front wheel further out. And slows the steering down.
Creating a calmer front end, especially on rough road and gravel surfaces.
Next, Giant made the Revolt lower than a traditional road bike.
The lower height of the Revolt 2, lowers its centre of gravity and makes it easier to corner.
The rear-end of the Revolt is also longer (compared to a road bike) for added high-speed stability.
It's also worth noting that the rear-end of the Revolt 2 extends by 10mm.
Use the long position for extra off-road stability and if you want to use wider 53mm tyres.
The biggest tyre size in the short position is 45mm.
In summary:
The Revolt 2 is all about calm handling and stability.
Giant Revolt 2 Build
The Revolt 2 is built around a lightweight aluminium frame that's paired to a full-carbon fork.
The fork reduces weight and acts as micro-suspension; absorbing road vibrations and impacts.
Modern gravel gearing means riders have gear ratios very like a road bike, except there's an easier climbing gear.
There are 2 front gears, paired to 9 rear gears.
For commuters and those riding on bike paths or roads, this is an important consideration.
Having 2 front gears gives you much more gearing options. Meaning you're going to carry more speed on flats and undulating terrain.
Some gravel bikes have a single front gear. For flat paths and undulating terrain, this could be a little restrictive.
Single front gears are ideal for off-road paths where the terrain constantly changes.
The Revolt 2 comes with approximately 38mm wide tyres as standard. This width is ideal for smooth dirt, gravel and suburban bike paths.
And it's also tubeless.
Instead of a tube, liquid sealant is inside the tyre.
The purpose of the sealant is to seal punctures. It plugs the hole (up to 6mm) and allows you to keep riding.
There will come a time where the puncture is too big to seal. For circumstances like these you'd use a tubeless tyre puncture repair kit.
