About Rocky Mountain Bikes

Rocky Mountain is a Canadian mountain bike brand, founded in 1981 and built around the steep, technical trails of British Columbia.

Its range runs from fast cross-country bikes to long-travel freeride bikes, plus the Powerplay electric mountain bikes, which use Rocky Mountain's own Dyname motor.

Most of its full-suspension bikes also have adjustable geometry, so you can tune the bike to the trails you ride.

Our current Rocky Mountain bikes are 2021 to 2026 models, many at run-out prices. The 2027 range is due in the first quarter of 2027, and we'll be stocking it.

There range includes bikes like the:

Rocky Mountain warranty and ownership

Rocky Mountain went through a change of ownership in 2025.

After entering creditor protection in Canada in December 2024, the company was bought in May 2025 by Chaos Sports, a group of Canadian investors, which confirmed that all Rocky Mountain warranties would be honoured and that parts would stay available.

If you buy a Rocky Mountain from us, we're your first point of contact for any warranty claim, and we deal with Rocky Mountain in Australia on your behalf.

Bring the bike into any of our three stores and we'll handle it from there.

Our workshops also service Rocky Mountain's Dyname e-bike motors.

Element. Downcountry.

The Element is Rocky Mountain's go-fast dual-suspension mountain bike.

It's designed for riders who prefer a mountain bike that holds speed and momentum over the trails.

And that's nimble and responsive at low speed.

The Element has a focus on climbing efficiency and maximising rider energy into forward motion.

Instinct. Trail.

The all-rounder.

The Rocky Mountain Instinct is the trail bike, with 140mm of rear travel and a 150mm fork.

It climbs well and is capable on rough, technical descents, which makes it the right bike for most riders who want one bike for every kind of trail.

Altitude. Enduro.

If you're already riding a mid-travel bike to its edge, the Altitude will take you to the next level.

It's a super tame, easy to ride Enduro bike that almost feels like a trail bike at low speeds.

As the speed picks up, then you realise how smooth the Altitude feels over raw, exposed and gnarly trails.

Rocky Mountain Altitude

Powerplay. Electric.

Powerplay is Rocky Mountain's name for its electric mountain bikes.

Unlike most brands, which buy in a motor from Bosch, Shimano or another supplier, Rocky Mountain designs its own: the Dyname.

Our full-power Powerplay bikes use the Dyname 4.0, with 108Nm of torque and 700W of peak power.

  • Instinct Powerplay: the trail e-MTB, with 140mm of rear travel and a 150mm fork.
  • Altitude Powerplay: the enduro e-MTB, with 160mm of rear travel and a 170mm fork.
  • Fusion Powerplay and Growler Powerplay: hardtail e-MTBs for bike paths, fire roads and easier trails.

Adjustable geometry: RIDE-9 and RIDE-4

Most Rocky Mountain full-suspension bikes let you change the geometry yourself, using one of two systems depending on the model.

RIDE-9, on bikes like the Instinct, uses two chips in the shock mount to give nine settings that change the head angle and how the suspension feels.

RIDE-4 uses one chip to give four positions that change the head angle, seat angle and bottom bracket height.

It means you can set the bike up steeper for climbing and tight trails, or slacker for fast, steep descents, without changing bikes.

Every Rocky Mountain bike in this collection is a 2021 to 2026 model, and most are priced to clear ahead of the 2027 range.

Many are thousands of dollars below their original price, including carbon Element, Instinct and Altitude models and full-power Powerplay e-MTBs.

Each bike's model year is in its name, so you can see exactly what you're buying.
